GOMEL REGIONAL CLINICAL HOSPITAL

In 2015 Gomel Regional Clinical Hospital has celebrated its 71 anniversary.
The history of Gomel Regional Clinical hospital dates back to  1944  following  the liberation of Gomel from the German occupying forces of World War II. The  1st Soviet 225 bed hospital hospital was born,  now renamed  Gomel Regional Clinical Hospital.
In 1977 a new 1465 bed hospital was built in 1982 an additional  maternity unit was added.
Since 1993, when Gomel State Medical University was founded, Gomel Regional Clinical Hospital  became the largest clinical foundation hospital in addition the  Maternity unit was functioning as a regional perinatal centre of third level. Every year the hospital is  training  more than  120 foundation  doctors plus  local  regional hospital doctors.
Today the hospital is lead by chief physician Bugakov Vladimir Alexeevich.
Nowadays Gomel Regional Clinical Hospital is the biggest regional multidisciplinary centre which is responsible for the healthcare of people living in Gomel and Gomel region, providing primary, secondary and acute services. There are 23 departments, maternity unit and consulting polyclinic with a capacity of 348 attendances per shift, 11 modern diagnostic and additional clinical units.
Regional emergency healthcare centre is also based in Gomel Regional Clinical Hospital.
The hospital is working on the development of international relations regarding current problems of modern medicine with colleagues from the former USSR countries, Germany, Japan, Switzerland, Finland, Italy, United Kingdom, USA, etc.
The main principles is availability of specialized healthcare to Gomel and Gomel region residents, but also an improvement of quality of care, using high tech methods of diagnosis and treatment; high moral standards, based on ethics and deontology, and professional  care for the population.
The staff of Gomel Regional Clinical Hospital have great  experience in delivering high quality care for their patients.
Annually  in-patient  department for 1095 beds are treating  around  35,000 people and performing  more than 16,000 various surgical interventions  each year. In addition, outpatient department is providing  care for 120,000 patients a year and is  leading 28 medical and paediatric specialties clinics. In the  maternity hospital over 2,500 children are born annually.
The Hospital is well-equipped and patients are cared for in safe, comfortable environment.
Gomel Regional City Hospital has also been a clinical foundation for 6 departments of Gomel State Medical University: Department of Surgery No 2 with a course of Paediatric Surgery, Department of General and Clinical Pharmacology, Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care courses,  Department of Neurology and Neurosurgery, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Trauma and Orthopaedics, ENT Department and etc.
